A rescue pocket bully, once used for breeding, has been waiting a year to be adopted, and now the RSPCA is asking would-be owners to come forward.

The five-year-old, named Moon, is under the foster care of the RSPCA’s Preston & District Branch and staff believe she deserves a forever home.

Ashleigh Kay, manager at the animal centre, said: "Moon is such a sweetheart.

"Despite everything she has been through, she is an amazing dog to simply spend time with.

"If you stop cuddling her, she will do everything she can to get you to continue."

Moon had found a home but landed back in RSPCA care after a change in the family’s circumstances.

Ms Kay added: “Since Moon has been in our care she has been overlooked and we are not sure why - she is a beautiful and affectionate lady who craves human attention.

“Moon has spent most of her life being bred and now she deserves to have a peaceful, loving life with a new family - all she wants is love, walks, food and a lot of snoozes."

One quirk potential owners need to make room for is Moon's reluctance to go to the toilet in the yard of her foster home, so a few toilet walks a day are required.

Ms Kay said: "On most occasions, Moon really loves her walks and enjoys to sniff, run along with her people and take in her surroundings."

"The only thing Moon is worried about in the home is the vacuum cleaner but we offer encouragement and praise and she will just take herself off onto the sofa to keep out of the way.

"She will wake herself from deep snoozes to greet you with the waggiest of tails when you walk through the door and gives what we call ‘love taps’ on your chest.”

She would ideally be in a single-pet home and would be fine around older children.
