A man has submitted plans to build a three-bedroom family home in the garden of another house.
Moorcot is a two-storey house on Nickey Lane in Mellor which has a garden described as “disproportionately large” for the size of the property.
A design and access statement said the applicant, a Mr Makinson, is currently considering the sale of the site and would like to explore the opportunity of putting in a new dwelling in the garden.
The proposed house will have a living room, kitchen/dining room, garage, cloakroom and utility room on the ground floor, while the first floor will accommodate the master bedroom, two further bedrooms, a bathroom and a dressing room.
The statement submitted to Ribble Valley Borough Council said: “The proposed dwelling has been designed to nestle into the existing streetscape.
“The use of traditional materials in the form of Yorkshire stone walling to clad the ground floor with smooth render to the upper storey helps to visually reduce the height when viewed from Nickey Lane.
“The appearance is modern but detailed with traditional materials to help sit the building comfortably within the semi-rural context.”
The application also seeks the demolition of a summer house and the repositioning of a window on the Moorcot house.
