Police in Hyndburn are warning residents after a spate of incidents where vehicles were targeted by criminals.

There have been reports of suspects checking car doors and thefts from cars in Oswaldtwistle, police said.

A spokesperson for the Hyndburn neighbourhood policing team said: “There has been reports of items being stolen from vehicles in the early hours of the morning, offenders' trying car door handles and on some occasions theft of the motor vehicles. 

“I would like to assure you that we are looking into these incidents and are conducting enquiries to identify the offender. Please contact us on 101 to report any suspicious activity or 999 to report an ongoing incident.

“We would like to remind you to ensure that you lock your vehicle and do not leave any valuables in the car.

“Finally, please keep reporting and sharing footage with us via our online reporting system or on our website.

“We have been made aware that there have been more incidents in the area than what has been reported.”
