A community fun day is taking place at a historic cricket club this weekend.

The Royal British Legion’s Blackburn branch will host a Community Commemoration Day to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day at East Lancs Cricket Club from 1pm today (Saturday).

The free event will feature fair rides, a bar, food stalls, cadet forces, the Salvation Army Brass band and a range of activities for young children.

Members of the Imperial Alliance, Star Wars fans will also be making an appearance.

The 80th Anniversary of D-Day was marked on Thursday, June 6. All money raised over the day will go to the charity.

The charity said due to nature of some activities at the event and the number of people expected no dogs will be permitted other than assistance dogs.

Later, the same day, the UK’s best Meatloaf tribute act will be performing at the venue. This is a paid for event with tickets costing £10.
