The M65, in Guide, was closed for a short period yesterday afternoon (June 6).
Police descended on the motorway and closed junction five at the westbound slip road.
Officers confirmed that they were called to a concern for welfare report. They did not provide any further details.
According to the College of Policing, concern for welfare-related calls are when requests are made for police contact with someone who is believed to be vulnerable or at risk for a wide variety of reasons.
In these cases, the police are asked to check the person is safe and well and usually provide an update to the reporting person or agency.
A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Roads said: “Due to a police incident, the M65 [was] closed at Junction 5 at the west-bound slip road
“It is now fully open.”
