A man has been arrested after police received reports of a person with a weapon in Nelson.
On Wednesday, June 5, police stopped a vehicle on Leeds Road. A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a weapon.
The vehicle was searched for further weapons but none were found. The vehicle is now being returned to its owner.
Officers were also called to another incident, which was nearby but unconnected. Another man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Enquiries into the incidents are ongoing.
A police spokesperson said: “We stopped a vehicle in Leeds Road, Nelson (June 5). A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a weapon.
“The vehicle was seized to search for further weapons. No weapons were found and the vehicle is now being returned to the owner.
“In a second incident, around the same time, nearby but unconnected, a second man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
“Both men have since been bailed with conditions.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
