Two new units for children with special educational needs or disabilities are to be created in East Lancashire.
Lancashire County Council's cabinet has approved plans for the new units, which will be created at Barrowford Primary School in the Pendle borough, and at Brunshaw Primary School in the Burnley borough.
The decision was made at a meeting of the cabinet on Thursday, June 6, following two consultations held earlier this year.
The new units will held to meet the increasing demand for places for children with complex needs within the eastern area of the county.
The consultation period for Barrowford saw concerns raised around traffic and parking in the area that a new SEN unit may cause, while no responses were received during the consultation at Brunshaw.
Jacqui Old, executive director of education and children's services at Lancashire County Council, said: "The demand for specialist provision in Lancashire continues to increase and we are working hard to create and enhance existing provision so that we can fulfil our statutory duties.
"Proposals to create SEN Units at Barrowford Primary School and Brunshaw Primary School will mean more children will get the support they need.
"These actions are part of a wider ongoing strategy to boost provision across the county and we remain dedicated to this goal."
