Train commuters have been warned to expect delays and cancellations on East Lancashire railways until the end of July.
Industrial action (action short of strike) has been announced by ASLEF, a trade union for train drivers, until July 27.
This impacts Northern services including those across Lancashire.
Commuters have been warned of a high number of short-notice cancellations during this time. They have been urged to check their journeys before travelling.
Northern services will run as scheduled but said it is expecting “a higher number of short-notice cancellations than usual” especially when it comes to the final trains of the day.
The industrial action is taking place due to “failure to adhere to existing agreements”. Northern said it is “working to find a resolution”.
A spokesperson for Northern said: “ASLEF have announced 'action short of strike' industrial action, between Saturday 1 June and Saturday 27 July.
“Most services will run as scheduled but we are expecting a higher number of short-notice cancellations than usual, particularly the last trains of the day.
“Please check before travelling, as close to your travel time as possible, and be aware of the last services of the day.”
ASLEF has been approached for comment.
