A businessman and Netflix star is among the stars rumoured to appear on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

It has been reported that Dave Fishwick, whose real-life battle to set up a community bank was turned into Netflix film Bank of Dave, is among the celebrities preparing to put on their dancing shoes.

According to a national newspaper, it has been reported businessman David Fishwick has been approached by Strictly bosses and has told his friends he's signed up for the show.

Dave, who owns Burnley Savings and Loans, has also dropped a cryptic hint on his social media channels about a “gigantic opportunity” that he has been offered.

At the end of May, Dave said: “A gigantic opportunity has just arrived, and I am sworn to secrecy! This would be one of the biggest so far! I will reveal more when I can.”

A source reportedly told a national paper that Dave’s “inspiring back story will win him new fans” and “shine a spotlight on the amazing work he has done for people and business in Lancashire".

When the Lancashire Telegraph asked the BBC about the speculations, the broadcaster declined to comment.

It is not the first time the former minibus salesman has been approached to appear on television.

Last year, Dave said he was approached by ITV bosses to appear on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

Dave also appears on ITV's This Morning as a finance guru.

Bank of Dave: The Sequel is currently in production, after Bank of Dave was number one on Netflix's most streamed movies for a short time after it first appeared on the platform in 2023.

Dave said he has a small starring role to play in the sequel, which is set to stream on Netflix in 2025.
