Officers closed a road in Briercliffe and a person was treated by paramedics, after a house fire yesterday (June 2).
Burnley Road, between the junction of Saxifield Street to Cobden Street, is still closed in both directions at the time of writing (June 3).
People in the surrounding areas were urged to close their windows.
Fire crews were called at 12.26pm and three fire engines attended the blaze, on Briercliffe Road.
Firefighters treated one person with a first aid kit before handing them over to paramedics.
Crews remained in attendance for several hours.
A police spokesperson said: “We currently have a road closure in place along Burnley Road, Briercliffe, Burnley.
“Between the junction of Saxfield Street to Cobden Street, in both directions.
“This is due to a fire. If you are in the surrounding areas, please keep your windows closed and find alternative routes of travel.
“We will update you once the road has reopened, however, this is likely to be closed for some time.”
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At 12.26pm, June 2, three fire engines from Burnley and Nelson attended a domestic building fire on Briercliffe Road.
“Firefighters used one hose reel and a positive-pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the fire.
“They treated one casualty using a first aid kit before placing them in the care of North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics.
“Crews remained in attendance for several hours.”
