The Specialist Ops team at Lancashire Police reached a milestone this week as they passed the £2m mark for cash seized over the past two years.
A stop at Charnock Richard services on the M6 on Wednesday (May 29) which brought in another £15,000 took them up to £2m.
At around 3.10pm on that date, officers stopped a white Audi A6 at the services.
A 32-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of money laundering. He has since been released with no further action.
The roads policing unit and the roads crime team have now seized more than £2m worth of cash suspected to being linked to criminal activities or proceeds of crime.
A spokesperson said: "In addition to criminal cash, Lancashire's SpecOps teams are routinely intercepting movements of drugs, weapons, and other illegal items.
"These can be attributable to a number of crimes, and our officers are dedicated to preventing them from happening."
