An update has been issued after an emergency road closure was announced in Blackburn yesterday (May 29).
Repair works are still being carried out in Northgate today (May 30). The road closure is in place on Barton Street, at the junction with Feilden Street.
Further details of the repair works and specific issues with the road have not yet been revealed. Teams are working to “make to road safe”.
United Utilities hopes the road will be back open in time for the weekend. It has apologied for any inconvenience caused.
A spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Council said: “United Utilities/Network Plus has closed Northgate this morning to rectify an issue on the road and make it safe.
“The road closure is in place on Barton Street, at the junction with Feilden Street.”
A United Utilities spokesperson said: “Our team is carrying out repairs works in Northgate. For the safety of our workers and the public, it has been necessary to close the road.
“We expect to have it re-opened in time for the weekend. We know no one likes roadworks and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
