A hotel in Lancashire has featured in The Telegraph’s list of ‘the rise, fall and renaissance of Britain’s grand seaside hotels’.
Introducing the list, the newspaper wrote: “Our writer charts the history of this homegrown tourism institution – and suggests the best of the modern bunch”.
A variety of hotels from across the UK feature in the list including The Midland Hotel in Morecambe.

The Telegraph describes The Midland Hotel as being “like a dazzling white ship”.
It says: “Curving gracefully around the promenade like a dazzling white ship, this art deco masterpiece was designed by the architect Oliver Hill, who commissioned sculptor Eric Gill and artist Eric Ravilious to create murals and carvings inside, with no expense spared.

One visitor said: “We treated ourselves to a two-night stay at The Midland for our 30th wedding anniversary and had a lovely time. The room was very comfortable and spacious with wonderful views over the bay.
“Delighted with our visit to a hotel we have wanted to visit since we saw it, pre-refurbishment, many years ago.”
Another said: “Excellent location spotlessly clean staff friendly breakfast was a good choice of hot and cold choices would definitely stay there again”.
