A chic new burger restaurant and bar has opened close to Darwen town centre.
‘Get Smashed’ has launched on Duckworth Street next to the Godfather and is offering a range of smash burgers and classic Lancashire cuisine.
It is being run chef Ian Rogers and Marcus Howard who wanted to give diners the ‘best of both worlds’.
The restaurant is spread over two floors with the ground floor able to accommodate 30 people. The interior was refitted over a six-week period and opened to guests for the first time on Saturday.
Ian said: “It was good to be open and we had a great response from people who came through the doors first. We have not done a huge launch as yet and just wanted to ensure all the bar and food service was working properly.
“Hopefully the word will get around and people can see for themselves what we are all about.
“We think it is quite unique as there is nowhere else round here where you can get a good meal like this and also a drink.
“That is where the novel name came up. Of course remember it is just a name!”
Ian said they had a exclusive range of burgers that people won’t be able to get anywhere else.
On the menu is ‘The Steakhouse’ which comes with two smashed beef burgers and a slice of 4oz steak and the ‘Surf and Turf’ which includes two smashed burgers and garlic king prawns.
Ian said: “We created the menu from scratch. It is something different.
“We also have the classical dishes as well as the burgers. There are pies and puddings and we think the grilled cheese offerings will be popular.
“We have teamed up with the Ye Old Sausage Shop and Handcrafted Pie Company so diners can expect a real celebration of the region.
“We don’t do fries and have opted for more traditional thick cut chips. These come in different options.”
The restaurant also serving a variety of desserts, American Style pancakes and kids meals.
Ian added: “We wanted to offer people a real choice and something they won’t get anywhere else.”
Get Smashed is open from Wednesdays through to Sundays from 12pm till late.
