*UPDATE: The road has now reopened*

Emergency services are currently at a road in Bacup, after a crash.

Officers and the ambulance service have been called to Rochdale Road, near the Sheep House reservoir.

Road closures are in place and motorists have been urged to avoid the area while they deal with the incident.

Police say the crash involved one vehicle.

The fire service was in attendance for 30 minutes and had to cut a person from a vehicle.

Bus services in the areas have also been forced to divert.

According to Rosso, the 464 bus will divert via New Line between Britannia and Park Road in both directions.

A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a collision on Rochdale Road, Bacup near to Sheep House reservoir.

“Road closures are in place and we would ask people to avoid the area while we deal with the incident.”

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 2.49 on May 16, two fire engines from Bacup and Rawtenstall attended a road traffic collision on Rochdale Road in Bacup.

"Firefighters used Holmatro equipment to extract the casualty from the vehicle and make the scene safe. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately thirty minutes."

The North West Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
