A retrospective planning application to keep a Clitheroe property running as a holiday let is facing backlash from neighbours.
An application has been submitted to Ribble Valley Borough Council to allow the property in Castle View to allow short-term holiday lets for a temporary period of five years.
The application says the four-bedroom home can accommodate up to eight people at a time, with unrestricted parking available on Castle View and nearby Albemarle Street.
However, a number of residents have written to the council to express their concerns over the change of use.
One said: “There is limited car parking on the street and the addition of possibly another four cars would add to the chaos.
“There are elderly residents living in sheltered accommodation, residing in bungalows on Castle View, who are more likely to need emergency services, and extra cars parked inconsiderately could be a risk to their wellbeing.
“This property, being run as a business, is taking a potential family residence off the market.
“The owner has been running this business without planning permission for over six months without consulting neighbours or any other residents on Castle View.”

Another neighbour cited the possibility of excess noise coming from the property with so many allowed to stay at once.
They said: “Our area has homes for families and the elderly. It would be inappropriate for guests to play loud music and cause upset in the neighbourhood.”
Another neighbour said the street was already a “busy, narrow, well-populated family area” and that the potentially up to eight vehicles would have “knock-on effects for the rest of Castle View.”
Another said the “street has now become a nightmare.”
A planning statement submitted to the council said the internal layout of the house, comprising a lounge and bedroom on the ground floor and three bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor, would remain unchanged.
It added: “The site is in a highly accessible location approximately 375m on foot from the train station and the bus interchange. Guests can easily access the accommodation by public transport.
“It is proposed to change the use of the property from a dwelling house to short-term let accommodation. The applicant wishes the change of use to be for a temporary period of five years.
“This provides flexibility to return to using the building as a dwelling in the future if circumstances change.”
