Ten hours of thunderstorms have been forecast for East Lancashire, according to Met Office forecasters.

There is a yellow warning as heavy showers and thunderstorms are set to cause disruption on Sunday, May 12. 

The warning is in force from 12pm until 10pm. It covers most parts of the UK, including the whole of Lancashire.

The Met Office has warned of isolated flooding, difficult driving conditions and possible damage to some buildings from flooding and lightning strikes.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Heavy and thundery showers are likely on Sunday before rain and blustery winds return on Monday and Tuesday. It will start feeling cooler.”

Saturday’s weather conditions are vastly different to Sunday, with sunny spells and temperatures of 23°C forecast in Blackburn with Darwen.

It’s set to be even hotter than Ibiza, where temperatures are set to peak at 22°C.

  • Sunday, May 12: Yellow weather warning for thunderstorms. Highs of 22°C and lows of 12°C.
