Activists blocked the entrance to an aerospace company in Darwen this morning (May 8).
Protesters blocked the entrance into Brookhouse Aerospace Limited, a key supplier to several aerospace manufacturers in the UK for composite and metallic parts, which is based at the India Mill, off the A666.
This is part of a protest linked to the Hamas and Israel conflict in Gaza. Protesters are complaining about the company being involved in the supply of weapons to Israel.
Instagram page, Blackburn 4 Palestine, posted a video of activists outside the Darwen site, with protestors holding banners which read: “Stop arming Israel. Sanctions now”.
Another banner said: “Brookhouse Aerospace supplying Gaza genocide."
The Instagram page said: “Activists from across the north west have blockaded Brookhouse Aerospace in Darwen.
“This company describes itself as a ‘world-class civil and defence aerospace manufacturing facility which includes composites, metallics, assembly and treatments facility’. There’s nothing world-class about supplying a genocide.
“We demand an immediate end to all UK arms exports to Israel, an immediate ceasefire, and an end to the Gaza genocide.
“Until these demands are not met, we will do everything in our power to disrupt the arms trade and dismantle British complicity.”
Police say it appears that the protestors have now left the site.
It is not the first time activists have rallied at the same site and were last reported at the site in March.
Brookhouse Aerospace Limited has been approached for comment.
