Taken in 1986, this photo shows finishing touches being put to Blackburn’s new leisure pool complex Waves with a giant palm tree being hoisted into place.
In the background you can see the massive slide which would be come a popular feature of Waves and which actually took swimmers outside the building before depositing them back in the main pool.
Waves opened in August 1986 - a month after this photo was taken - and would serve the town until 2015.
The site was subsequently redeveloped and the Reel Cinema now stands where Waves used to be.
But many families will have fond memories of the town’s ‘water fun centre’.
