Celebrity couple, Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Márquez, are to star in another series of TV show Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens.

The series gives viewers a glimpse into the couple’s family life as they welcome a second child to the family.

Gemma, who is president of Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Edenfield, said she feels “really lucky” to be given the chance to film a second series.

Bury-born Gemma said: “When the channel said it was one of the most watched shows and been well received, and asked if we’d like to go again but with six episodes, it was a pleasant surprise. We assumed it'd just be the first series of three episodes and done.

“Series one ended when Thiago was just born. So, it's a natural progression to the second series - that fourth trimester as they call it, the postpartum, as well as Gorka’s new job judging the Spanish Dancing with the Stars. We’ve done a hell of a lot in a short space of time.

"We feel really lucky that people have invested in it - we still have messages about it now, which is lovely.”

Gemma said the first series resonated with mums across the UK.

She said: “I’ve had mums message me saying how grateful they are that it's not like a big glam squad with hair and makeup, an ‘everything’s perfect’ type show. We didn't want it polished, pristine and perfect because that's not what day-to-day life is. It's chaos.”

The show will explore the trials and tribulations of becoming a family of four but Gemma says she and Gorka are managing well.

She said: “I think we're doing alright. Everyone said twice the stress, twice the exhaustion, but it's also twice the love and twice the lovely chaos. We know Thiago is our last baby because we've been blessed with a boy and a girl.

“I think you're a lot more chilled with the second because you know you can do it. I guess you’re tired and knackered, but you were anyway! And Mia’s a fantastic sister. She's so hands-on with Thiago.”

Fans have been told to expect some ‘dramatic’ moments in the next series, including wardrobe malfunctions.

Gemma said: “We had a bit of a drama with the Brits dress. I've been doing a lot of squatting at the gym so my bum's got bigger - in a good way.

“I tried a dress on and it completely ripped - my whole backside ripped a dress.

“We just roll with it and hope for the best with everything.”

In series two, Gemma is enjoying the last of her maternity leave and this series finds her juggling fashion shoots, awards ceremonies, and television appearances, with four-year-old Mia’s new school run and Tio’s feeding schedule.

Before they know it, Gemma will be returning full-time to HITS Radio and Gorka will be back on the road for the Strictly Pro tour.
