A teenager has been arrested by police investigating an alleged hit-and-run in Blackburn.
It follows an incident where a police officer was struck by an alleged stolen vehicle in Blackburn.
The boy, 16, was arrested earlier today (April 5) on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, GBH and dangerous driving. He remains in custody.
Police say they are continuing to look for the black Volkswagen Polo involved in the incident.
Officers were called just before 8pm on Tuesday (April 2) to New Chapel Street following reports a black Volkswagen Polo mobility car had been stolen sometime between March 26 and April 2.
As part of the investigation, an officer was carrying out enquiries in the Mill Hill area of Blackburn and spotted the car in Fred Pickering Place just before noon.
The officer went to the front of the vehicle to speak to the driver before police say he was struck by the vehicle, causing him to go onto the bonnet and then the ground.
The officer was taken to hospital but his injuries are not serious.
Anyone with information or footage is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting log 484 of April 3, 2024.
Any sightings of the Volkswagen should be reported to the police via 999.
