Burnley radio presenter, Jordan North, said the BBC told him he would not be back on air 20 minutes before he was set to appear on a podcast.

Earlier this year it was announced that Jordan was set to leave Radio 1 and become the new host of the Capital FM Breakfast Show.

The BBC announced former Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing would be taking over the presenting role alongside Vick Hope, who presented the afternoon show with Jordan.

In the most recent episode of Jordan’s podcast Help I Sexted My Boss, which he hosts alongside etiquette expert William Hanson, Jordan explained more about his final Radio 1 broadcast. 

According to Jordan, the BBC told him he had just broadcast his final radio show only 20 minutes before he was set to appear on another podcast called Dish.

Jordan said: “Listen to [Dish] because around 20 minutes before that recording I was called by the BBC to be told that was my last show.”

William said: “I am going to be serious now and I said this to you at the time. Considering you had the news that you did you were phenomenal.

“You were so good, you were on point, you were funny – you were great.”

The I’m A Celebrity runner-up’s BBC departure was announced on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday, February 16, as Radio 1 shared: “Radio 1 will be saying goodbye to Jordan North.

“Jordan has been behind some of the most hilarious and entertaining moments on air over the years and has been a constant source of inspiration for younger presenters. Thank you for everything."

At the time Jordan said: “I am beyond excited to be joining Global and to wake up the nation every morning on Capital – I can’t wait to start working with the amazing team here and get stuck in, to create the most fun and entertaining breakfast show.

“Getting to host Capital Breakfast has always been a dream of mine and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I simply couldn’t turn down.

“Big love to [departing host Roman Kemp] who has been a class act throughout it all.”
