A man who stole from Tesco in Clitheroe, before going on to steal from shops in Blackburn and Longridge has been given a suspended sentence.

Mark Brown appeared at the magistrates court on Monday charged with aggravated vehicle taking, possession of a bladed article in a public place, using a motor vehicle without insurance, driving a vehicle with no licence, and four counts of theft.

Brown, of Devonport Court, Blackburn, was give a total 20 week suspended sentence and has been disqualified from driving for 18 months.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "You may recall we asked for your help in identifying a male involved in a theft from Tesco, Clitheroe on Thursday January 18..

"The male was also identified as being involved in two further thefts in Longridge and one in Blackburn

"Disappointingly Brown has been given a total 20 week suspended sentence and has been disqualified from driving for 18 months.

"Brown will also be subject to an electronic curfew as part of his sentence."
