A driver sped from police before parking his car outside his house and running from the vehicle.

Police in Blackburn were in the middle of seizing two uninsured vehicles on Sunday night (March 3) that they suspected were on cloned plates, when their attention was brought to a third car.

Officers also suspected the car was not insured and signalled for the driver to stop.

However, the motorist sped off from police.

A short chase ensued but officers didn't have to travel far as they found the vehicle parked outside the driver's address not long after.

The driver had even left the car door open, with police seizing the opportunity to recover the vehicle.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "This evening Blackburn neighbourhood officers attention was drawn to two uninsured motors in the Blackburn area.

"The cloned plates unfortunately did not have the desired effect that the 'owner' intended, and officers observations meant both vehicles were seized.

"Whilst dealing with this duo, attention was drawn to the third vehicle, the driver of which seemed to be better acquainted with the accelerator than the brake and subsequently failed to stop.

"The adrenaline filled journey was short lived, as conveniently the vehicle was located outside of the driver's address moments later. They even left it open for us.

"This nice gesture meant it was easier for us to recover. It's the little things."
