Blackburn College will be hosting the North of England Hair Awards for the first time this year, where the country’s best student, junior and senior stylists and barbers will battle it out to be crowned ‘All England Champion’.
Taking place on Monday, March 11, the North of England Hair Awards will be comprised of 13 live competitions and is open to mens’ and ladies' stylists and barbers of all levels.
Categories include up-dos, fantasy styling, colouring, men's, events, and photographic, giving entrants the opportunity to put their skills to the test and impress Team GB Hair scouts who will be in attendance throughout the day.
Event organiser, John Lavanti, said: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing the North of England Hair Awards to Blackburn College.
"Blackpool has always been the home of hairdressing competitions, but we decided to move to Blackburn this year to reflect the wealth of hairdressing talent in the local area.
“The hair and beauty industry generates billions for the UK economy each year, and these awards are a way of coming together and celebrating this incredible talent.
“This year we will have scouts from Team GB Hair looking to choose people to represent the UK in the World and European Hair Championships.”
Colleges, academies and salons from across the country are encouraged to enter.
Blackburn College principal and chief executive, Dr Fazal Dad, said: “Blackburn is home to a plethora of talent, both within our student body and in salons and barber shops in the surrounding area.
“Having the North of England Hair Awards at the college is an exciting opportunity for our students to take on a new challenge and to put their skills to the test in a competitive way.
“We look forward to welcoming entrants from across the North of England to our college and wish all those from our Hair Academy and Beauty Studio the very best of luck.”
