A man has died after he crashed his car into a stationary vehicle in the early hours of this morning.

The man, in his 30s, crashed his red Vauxhall Corsa into a parked Range Rover Evoque.

Police were called at around 12.15am this morning (February 28) to the scene on Blackpool Road, at the junctions of Alisan Road and Moorfield Avenue in Poulton-le-Fylde.

A police spokesperson said: "You may have seen an increased police presence in the Poulton-le-Fylde area in the early hours of this morning.

"At 12.15am, our officers attended a road traffic collision on Blackpool Road between the junctions of Alisan Road and Moorfield Avenue, where they discovered a red Vauxhall Corsa that had collided with a parked Range Rover Evoque.

"Very sadly, the driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead. Our thoughts are very much with the man's loved ones at this incredibly sad and distressing time."

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash or to anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage from Blackpool Road at the time of the incident.
