Burnley Bus Station is set to undergo a refurbishment in the coming weeks and closure details have been announced.

The male and female toilets at the bus station are set to be closed for refurbishment.

The work is set to take place from Monday, March 4, and is expected to last three weeks.

The disabled toilet will be available for everyone to use, in order to minimise disruption.

During the refurbishment the floor, fittings and sanitary ware is set to be replaced.

This is part of a “series of improvements” planned for the station in the coming weeks.

Metal barriers, some of which are damaged, between the station and Centenary Way are being replaced in mid-March.

The building exterior, including the canopy and steelwork, will be resprayed. This work is set to start in April.

A spokesperson for Burnley Council said: “The public toilets (both ladies and gents) at Burnley bus station are to be closed for refurbishment next month.

“Work will take place from Monday, March 4, and is expected to last three weeks.

“The work will include replacing the flooring, fittings and sanitary ware.

“During the work the disabled toilets will be open to everyone to use to minimise disruption and provide some facilities.

“It's part of a series of improvements to the station planned for the coming weeks.

The metal barriers between the station and Centenary Way, some of which are damaged, are being replaced in mid-March. The flower planters on the railings will remain.

“The exterior of the building, including the canopy and steelwork, will be resprayed and brightened up, with work set to start early April.

“Apologies for any inconvenience all this causes but the result will be improved facilities at the station.”
