You might see film crews in East Lancashire from this week as filming begins for the anticipated Bank of Dave sequel.
Bank of Dave was number one on Netflix's most streamed movies for a short time after it first appeared on the streaming platform in 2023, and the sequel is set to be “even bigger”.
Dave Fishwick, upon whose life the films are based, says Netflix crews have taken over his Sabden home, which will feature in the movie.
Film crews are also set to descend on the Ribble Valley, Burnley, Nelson and Colne in the coming months.
Filming is set take place at Dave's home and in Burnley, next week.
Dave, who founded Burnley Savings and Loans after making his fortune selling minibuses, said: “There are vans and trucks outside my house.
"My aircraft hangar, which normally holds my cars and helicopter, is being turned into a studio.
"At this moment there are around 65 people in my home running a train track through the house to put cameras on.
“It’s a really unusual time and the local hotels are full of Netflix staff.
"It is a massive and surreal experience to be staring down the barrel of a brand new movie, especially after the first was such a global hit.
“Netflix is a wonderful company to work with. They really are genuine and attentive people.”
According to Dave, the sequel will be “bigger” than the first and has likened it to a Hollywood production.
He said: “This movie will be even bigger. It really is exciting… I’ve read the script and this feels like a Bruce Willis film.”
Dave said “something big” will be happening in Burnley, with more details set to be released in the coming weeks.
He said: “Something very big will be happening in Burnley, that has never happened before, but I can’t say more about it yet.
"Big stars are on the way from all over the world to take part. It’s all very cool.”
The sequel will focus on David Fishwick and his “right hand man” David Henshaw when they took on the payday loan companies, and will closely follow the work he did in the Channel 4 series, Dave: Loan Ranger.
Titled Bank of Dave: The Sequel, the new movie is set to be produced by Tempo Productions and Future Artists and will see the return of the director with Chris Foggin.
Rory Kinnear will reprise his role as Dave.
In a short synopsis, Netflix said: “This sequel to Bank of Dave sees Dave Fishwick taking on a new and more dangerous adversary: The Payday Lenders.
The first film, which starred Phoebe Dynevor, Joel Fry and Hugh Bonneville, received largely positive reviews and a number of award nominations.
