A Darwen holiday cottage has been honoured at the Travel and Hospitality Awards.

Midsummer Barn Holiday Cottage, which is based at Higher Bank Fold Farm was recognised as part of the 2024 European Awards program.

The venue, a self-catering holiday cottage is located on the edge of Belthorn, sleeps up to seven guests and also pet friendly. It is situated on the edge of the West Pennine Moors with walking opportunities direct from the cottage.

The Travel Hospitality awards are a global recognition programme for the travel industry recognising 'the very best hotels, tour operators, experience providers, spa and wellness facilities, restaurants, and technology and innovation companies'.

The award was said to 'exemplify Midsummer Barn Holiday Cottage’s unwavering commitment to excellence and exceptional service in the travel and hospitality industry'.

The recipients of the Travel and Hospitality Awards in 2024 are chosen based on a comprehensive analysis of reviews from various independent sources.

A panel of experts evaluated submission materials, reviewed customer feedback, and compared the facilities of each participant.

The venue has received rave reviews on Booking.com with prices for seven people starting at £140 in peak season.

Yvonne Brown from Midsummer Barn Holiday Cottage said: "We are delighted to have been recognised as the family friendly cottage of the year in the North West.

"Having experienced what it is like to travel with young children, we try to offer a large range of items that families might need, such as stair gates, high chairs and cots.

"We also have a large selection of books and games to entertain families on those wet north-west days! "

The Travel & Hospitality Awards team said, “We were astounded by the exceptional quality of entries this year. We trust that this guide will serve as a valuable resource for discerning travelers as they plan their next luxurious getaway.

"Congratulations once again to all our deserving winners.”
