A road in Burnley was closed due to a road traffic collision earlier today (Wednesday, February 21).

The road is now open.

Burnley and Padiham Police said previously that Cog Lane in Burnley was closed.

Police asked drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes.

This was after a red Ford Transit hit two pedestrians, a man and a woman. No one was seriously injured.

This is being treated as an isolated incident between parties known to each other.

A spokesperson for Burnley and Padiham Police said: "Hi everyone.

"Cog Lane in Burnley is currently closed due to a road traffic collision.

"It is not clear how long the road will be closed for, so we'd kindly ask that you avoid the area and find alternate routes.

"We will update you once the road has been re-opened."

A police spokesperson said: "We were called to Cog Lane, Burnley, at 5.01pm yesterday (February 21) to reports a red Ford Transit had collided with two pedestrians.

"Thankfully, the pedestrians – a man and woman - were not seriously injured.

"Nobody has been arrested at this stage. Enquiries are ongoing.

"This is being treated as an isolated incident between parties known to each other.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 1032 of February 21."
