A driver has been reported after committing a traffic offence in Blackburn.

The driver was sat inside his vehicle with friends, while parked on zig zag lines in Whalley Range.

He was issued with a traffic offence report and advised to move his vehicle immediately.

A police spokesperson said: “The driver was sat inside his vehicle with his friends on zig-zags on Whalley Range in Blackburn.

“Driver issued with a TOR (Traffic offence report) and advised to move his vehicle immediately.”

The highway code states that zig-zag lines are usually found on the approach to, and exit from, a pedestrian crossing, and their presence means drivers must not park on them or overtake the leading vehicle when approaching the crossing.

According to the highway code, you must not park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines. You also must not overtake the leading vehicle on approach to the crossing.

You risk a fine and penalty points by parking on yellow or white zig-zag lines.
