A new football programme for veterans is being launched at Blackburn Rovers.
The Blackburn Rovers Community Trust (BRFC Trust) said ‘Veterans Football’ is open for anyone who has served in HM Armed Forces, and the first session will take place on Monday 19 February from 8pm until 9pm in the newly refurbished Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre.
Blackburn Rovers Community Trust already run several projects to support the veterans' community.
The cost is£5 per session and it will run on a weekly basis, open for all ages, the only requirement is that you have served for HM Armed Forces.
Football Development Manager at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, Chris McGrail, said “I am so excited to take our veterans offer even further.
"After starting off the Veterans Breakfast Club plus the Veterans Walk and Talk sessions, this is just another key milestone in having an offer for everyone who has served in HM Armed Forces.
“We pride ourselves at the Community Trust to support people’s mental and physical wellbeing and I think that this session will do just that.
"Our aim is to build this session into having a Rovers Veterans team representing us in matches against other local, regional and national teams who also provide opportunities for the veteran community.”
The veterans projects are supported by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, Veterans Foundation, Veterans Living History Museum and Royal British Legion Blackburn branch.
