Here’s a photo from the archives which we need your help with.
Taken in 1974 it is a view over Accrington. The caption on the back says it was taken for a ‘Hyndburn Road feature’ but we’re trying to work out exactly where it was taken from.
On the right you can see the Globe works, home to Howard and Bullough which by then was called Platts. The spire in the centre of the photo is probably that of Cannon Street Baptist Church with the other large building near it possibly Accrington Conservative Club.
But what was the mill building with the huge chimney in the foreground? If you can help with the exact location or identify some of the buildings email bygones@nqnw.co.uk
