This dramatic photo was taken in 1995 after an organised bonfire got out of hand.
A fire fighter had to be hosed down after dealing with the unruly blaze at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel at Clayton-le-Moors where Accrington Lions were holding their annual bonfire..
It was reported at the time that a sudden change in the wind direction led to sparks from the bonfire being blown into nearby trees which caught light.
Thankfully the matter was soon dealt with an no-one was injured although it was clearly hot work for the fire fighters who had been called out.
