A glimpse of Accrington town centre from more that 60 years ago, this photo shows Broadway.
It’s fascinating to see the benches on both sides of the road - and of course, it was open to two-way traffic back then. By the look of it you could even park outside the shops.
On the right of the photo you can see the Odeon Cinema which was a focal point in the town.
The two main stores on Broadway were Woolworth’s and Marks and Spencer, sadly both now no longer there.
Can you recall other shops on Broadway in the Sixties?
