A council is holding a consultation for people to express their views on a potential new skate park for land behind a leisure centre in Colne.

The consultation meeting is being held at Pendle Leisure Centre, Crown Way, Colne, on Thursday, February 22 from 6pm until 8pm.

Pendle Council staff say this will be an initial meeting with specialist consultants that are working with them to design a potential new concrete skate park on a piece of land behind Pendle Leisure Centre.

The aim is to look at various options and design elements that local users would like to see.

People of any age that are interested in helping to develop the project are invited along to the consultation – but places must be booked.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, leader of Pendle Council, said: “This will be another great asset for the borough.

“It will be yet another way for our younger residents to exercise and socialise and I think in consulting them, we can ensure we get the design right and it will be used to its full potential.”

Phil Riley, the council’s green spaces manager, added: “We have consultants to work with us, but we also want to hear from people that already use a skate park and have ideas on what we need, to have a say and express their views on the proposed design options.”

Pendle Council’s portfolio holder for housing, health and wellbeing, Councillor Mohammad Ammer, added: “This will be another option for our younger residents to get out in the fresh air and exercise.”

Pendle Council’s portfolio holder for leisure services, Councillor Mohammad Hanif, added: “This will be a great addition to the leisure facilities and services we already provide, especially for our younger members of the community.”

To make sure there is enough space to accommodate everyone, places must be booked.
