Just in time for Valentine’s Day (February 14) a new study has revealed the ‘most romantic’ places in the UK and an East Lancashire town made the top 10.
Burnley, known for its milling history, famous faces, football club and beyond, has been named the ‘romance capital’ of the North West.
According to the research by Together Travel, which specialises in staycations, people in the Burnley search for romantic getaways more than anywhere else in the region.
On average, locals search for romantic holidays (and over 10,000 related terms) 2600 times a month.
Per 10,000 people that’s 274 searches a month, the highest in the North West.
When compared to the rest of the UK, Burnley came sixth. It was number one in Lancashire.
Zak Ali, from Together Travel, said: “there’s no better way to woo your loved one than taking them away somewhere special.
“With the rise of hybrid and stay-at-home working, it’s now more important than ever to spend time with a loved one somewhere fresh.”
“Why just spend Valentine’s Day celebrating your other half when you can push the boat out and have a couple of days in paradise.”
