A renowned TV chef appeared at the grand finale of a food festival in Langho.
Obsession returned to Northcote earlier this year and Michel Roux, a chef who has appeared on MasterChef and Michel Roux's French Country Cooking, cooked up a storm in the grand finale.
It was the first time Michel had attended the festival, hosted by Northcote's Michelin-starred executive chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen, in two decades.
Speaking on the day, Michel said: “I am really excited to be at Obsession. The line-up here is just incredible.
"The last time I was here was 20 years ago. I have been waiting for that phone call from Lisa and it finally came.”
Working with his daughter, Emily Roux, the duo served up a feast of lobster risotto, halibut, roast venison, Ossau Iraty (a type of French cheese made from sheep milk) with truffle.
Pudding was ‘caramel baked apple rose’.
Organised by Lisa Goodwin-Allen and the Northcote team, the internationally renowned, multi-award-winning event has built a reputation as one of the most significant gourmet festivals in Europe.
Each chef cooks their unique Obsession menus for food and wine enthusiasts in the region who are keen to have an exclusive, memorable dining experience created by some of the world’s most innovative chefs, with dishes that may be unavailable anywhere else.
Obsession has been a key calendar moment in the UK’s gastronomy scene since it launched in 2001, as a celebration of good food and wine and over the years has featured hundreds of Michelin star chefs.
The event is also used to raise money for Hospitality Action, a charity for those in the hospitality industry. Last year more that £70,000 was raised for the charity.
A spokesperson for Northcote said: “We want to thank the entire kitchen brigade, front-of-house team, senior management, house-keeping team, reception team, digital team and all those who have worked behind the scenes, for going above and beyond throughout Obsession.
“We’d like to thank our guest chefs and their teams, as without you and your outstanding menus, there would be no event for us to host! It truly has been a pleasure to meet you all and we’ve made lifelong friends along the way.”
