A teenager suffered a serious leg injury after an incident involving a quadbike near Roughlee.

Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) were called out to assist in helping the teenager along with North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) at around 6pm on Thursday (February 8).

The team was able to provide the ambulance crew with additional equipment to splint the teenager’s leg before transporting them to the road and waiting for an ambulance.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “A teenager had an incident involving a quadbike and subsequently sustained a serious lower leg injury. As the team were contacted, a paramedic was walking to the scene but was unable to make their way in their vehicle and reported it may even be unsuitable for 4x4 vehicles.

“Team members were deployed and made their way to our base, as others headed directly to the location.

“With local knowledge of possible preferred access routes, the team made their way to the scene and were able to provide assistance in getting NWAS crew to the injured teenager, with additional equipment to splint the limb before transporting them to the road.

“The team stood down and returned vehicles to our base, whilst also assisting a number of other vehicles on the way back, and returned home at approximately 8pm.”
