If you like to get out and about, you won’t be short of options with both longer and shorter routes available in the Forest of Bowland.

Hurst Green and Hobbit Hill Circular
Difficulty: Moderate
If you’d like to enjoy a relaxing walk this weekend, why not try this trail? You’ll walk through fields and around Hurst Green and Hobbit Hill plus along the Hodder and Ribble riversides.
It’s a 10.5km circular route that can be done in two hours and 46 minutes on average and it’s available to enjoy all year round.
You can take all the family there including your dog as long as it is on a lead.

Pendle Hill and Ogden Reservoir Circular
Difficulty: Moderate
Enjoy this “popular” walking trail with friends and family (and your dog) this weekend – dogs need to be on a lead.
On this route, you’ll walk to Pendle Hill’s summit where you’ll find the Bronze Age burial site.
The trail is 7.9km in length and takes around two hours and 40 minutes to complete (on average).

Fair Snape Fell and Parlick Circular
Difficulty: Hard
Although this walking route is better to visit between March and October, you can still enjoy it with loved ones all year round.
On this walk, you’ll go up to Fair Snape Fell and pass Paddy’s Pole and Parlick on the way back.
You’ll pass farms on the way round and need to cross the Chipping Brook too.
Appropriate footwear is advised as this route can get wet and boggy especially after heavy rain or in winter.

Pendle Hill Shorter Route
Difficulty: Moderate
If you’re looking for a shorter walk to try, Pendle Hill Shorter Route could be the one for you as its 6.4km long.
On average, it takes two hours and 20 minutes to complete and it’s best to do this walk between January and October.
You’ll walk from Barley to Pendle Hill and sturdy footwear is advised whether you do the route on a wet or dry day.

Scorton and Grizedale Reservoir Circular
Difficulty: Moderate

This route is generally described as “a moderately challenging route” which is 6.3km in length and takes an hour and 56 minutes to complete.
You’ll start walking at Scorton and go on a steep climb up the moorland hill until you reach the summit of Nicky Nook.
Dogs are welcome to join you on this route as long as they are on a lead.
This trail is open for visitors to explore all year round and is described as being “beautiful to visit anytime.”
