A film based ‘loosely’ on the rise and rise of a mini-bus salesman from Burnley has been nominated for a Hollywood movie award.
Bank of Dave, which was released on streaming site Netflix in 2023, was filmed in Burnley and other parts of East Lancashire, and is based on the life of businessman Dave Fishwick, who began his career selling minibuses in his hometown.
Following its worldwide success, and confirmation that a sequel, Bank of Dave 2, is due to begin filming in East Lancashire very soon, the first film has just been nominated for a Hollywood award.
Last month, Movieguide, an American film website, announced the nominations for its 31st Annual Movieguide Faith and Values Awards Gala, an event which celebrates uplifting and positive Hollywood films.
And Bank of Dave has been nominated in The Faith and Freedom Award For Movies category.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Dave said: “Very exciting news!! We are up for top award in Hollywood!
“Bank of Dave The Movie has been nominated alongside some giant films, Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny, and Guy Richie’s The Covenant, they are reporting about it all, top LA News.
“Burnley has been invited to the Hollywood red carpet!!”

Bank of Dave stars Joel Fry, Phoebe Dynevor, Rory Kinnear (as Dave), Hugh Bonneville, Paul Kaye, and Jo Hartley, and tells the (almost true) story of how the Burnley native took on the big banks and won.
The sequel has been penned by Bank of Dave writer, Piers Ashworth, and is set to be produced by Tempo Productions and Future Artists and will see the return of director Chris Foggin.
Dave said the Bank of Dave sequel will focus on his work with the pay day loan companies and will closely follow the work he did in the Channel 4 series, Dave: Loan Ranger.
Netflix UK is currently featuring the original documentary series on Dave Fishwick too, which aired in 2012. All three episodes were added to Netflix on March 24.
The 31st Annual Movieguide Faith and Values Awards Gala will take place on February 9 at the Avalon Theatre in Hollywood.
Filming for Bank of Dave 2 is set to begin in the coming weeks.
