A huge fleet of trucks have parked up on the former Thwaites brewery site in Blackburn town centre.

The Leyland DAF Trucks will be parked up for an initial six months. Arrangements are being put in place to accommodate the fairground scheduled for the February half-term at an alternative location, close to the former Thwaites site.

The vehicles can be spotted by motorists as they drive along Barbara Castle Way.

Blackburn Thwaites site to store trucks pending supermarket plan

The parking solution comes as Leyland DAF explore options  for a storage facility to support their commercial operation.

Earlier this month plans were submitted for the new Morrisons store which is part of the proposed £250 million regeneration of the town centre.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The new supermarket, if approved, will take over the former 30,000sq ft Thwaites brewery site just off Barbara Castle Way. The venture is being led by Blackburn with Darwen Council in partnership with the Eric Wright Group and Maple Grove Developments.

The scheme will also see a Skills and Education campus with a Cyber Zone and increased cycle/pedestrian routes.
