A schedule of events due to take place this year in Burnley town centre has been announced.

The schedule has been unveiled by Burnley Business Improvement District, and includes live music, a car show, markets and seasonal events.

The BID believes the line up of events will draw more visitors to Burnley and offer something different to residents, businesses and visitors alike, and will give the town centre a boost.

Kicking off things in May will be Burnley Live, always a highlight of the town calendar, with a host of talented musicians descending on venues around the town to perform over the weekend.

Singers and bands will take to the stages in pubs and bars on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday 5, and its hoped this year's event will be even bigger and better than the last.

In September, the Burnley Vintage and Performance Car Show will return for a third time, bringing an impressive collection of classic and high performance cars, motorbikes and other vehicles to the town centre.

A must for petrolheads and lovers of history it will take place on Saturday, September 14, and is expected to draw good numbers from across the county.

At the end of 2024, the Christmas Extravaganza will be back once again, with the town centre filled with festive entertainment and attractions.

It will be organised by the BID, Charter Walk shopping centre, and Burnley Council, to bring a range of Christmassy activities and attractions for all the family.

Throughot the year, starting next Saturday (February 3), the Burnley Artisan Market will also be in town on the first Saturday of every month until December.

A wide range of homemade and handmade produce, gifts and crafts will be on offer, plus live music between St James's Street and Charter Walk.

In other positive news, the Burnley Artisan Market is back in town on the first Saturday of every month from February to December, bringing homemade produce, handmade gifts, arts, crafts, and live music to St James’s Street and Charter Walk.

Burnley BID project manager, Laura Diffey, said: “There were some fantastic events in the town centre last year which really created a buzz, and we’re aiming to build on these in 2024.

“With Burnley Live and the Vintage and Performance Car Show, plus activities during holiday periods, we want people from all over the region to recognise Burnley as a vibrant hive of activity where there’s always something exciting going on.

“This in turn will help more people discover our fantastic town centre businesses and the wonderful, friendly people who make them tick.”
