Five Lancashire restaurants have been named among the UK’s top 100 in a new list by SquareMeal.

The SquareMeal website says: “Each of the top 100 results are a unique combination of our own in-house critic-led opinions and thousands of diner votes. Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms features in the list and is the only Lancashire restaurant to rank in the top 10.

The Barn at Moor Hall placed 26th and Parkers Arms takes the 35th spot.

Northcote sits in 59th place while White Swan at Fence came in at 79th.

What did SquareMeal say about Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms?

SquareMeal described the food at Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms as “predictably dazzling”.

It described the experience, saying: “The restaurant itself sits within a beautifully renovated 16th-century manor house, but your experience starts in the lounge, where period features - heavy-set carved timber and stone fireplaces - sit juxtaposed with pop-art pictures of The Beatles.

“Drinks arrive, courtesy of a cocktail list that makes full use of the treasure trove of herbs and aromatics grown in the Moor Hall gardens, and there are snacks too - charcuterie made on-site, a croustade of baked celeriac custard, chorizo and egg yolk, and the most luxurious chips and dip invention imaginable, where you smear cod roe and caviar over impossibly-beautiful herb-flecked crackers.”

The restaurant was given a Gold Award by SquareMeal and it boasts two Michelin stars and a green star for sustainability.
