A worshipper collapsed and died whilst praying at a mosque in Blackburn.
The tragic events unfolded at the Masjid E Noor in Saunders Road during the afternoon Zuhr prayers on Saturday, January 20.
The jamaat (congregational) prayers had just finished when the man collapsed from a seated position during the dua.
Worshippers attempted frantically to conduct CPR on the man.
The identity of the man has not been revealed.
Emergency services were called and were at the mosque within five minutes, witnesses said.
No further details of the incident have been released at this stage but the Janazah (funeral) prayers were conducted earlier this week.
A witness said: “It was an extremely tragic time for everyone at the mosque and the worshippers who were there at the time.
“Our prayers and condolences go out to the family of the man.
“Worshippers did try their best to help as much as they could and the ambulance service arrived very quickly.”
North West Ambulance Service said they were called to an incident following a call at 1.09pm.
A spokesperson said the patient was taken to hospital.
