This photo shows the first collection of vehicles belonging to music fans who headed to the hills for the second Pickup Bank free festival in the summer of 1981.
The festival - billed as a successor to the legendary Deeply Vale festival - went ahead in spite of council objections and various injunctions to try and stop it.
Contemporary reports reveal that drugs were freely available and the whole event had a hippy vibe with festivalgoers relying on streams for water and trenches being dug for toilets.
If you went and can remember it we’d love to hear more. Who was playing at the festival? Any famous names? Email bygones@nqnw.co.uk or leave a comment
