New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to five of Blackburn with Darwen’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Examining food handling, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and the management of food safety, inspectors have rated one eatery a five out of five, two eateries a four out of five, one eatery a three out of five and one eatery a two out of five hygiene rating.

A Blackburn with Darwen takeaway has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

It means of Blackburn with Darwen's 175 takeaways with ratings, 91 (52 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

Two Blackburn with Darwen takeaways have been handed new four-out-of-five food hygiene ratings.

The inspection report states both the hygienic food handling, and the management of food safety are good whilst the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building is generally satisfactory.

One takeaway was awarded a three after inspection.

Finally, one final takeaway has been rated a two after inspection.
