At one time this was one of the most notorious road junctions in East Lancashire.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph photographer who took this photo in 1969 was clearly looking for an ‘arty’ shot to illustrate on-going complaints about the Britannia crossroads at Oswaldtwistle.
Haslingden Road was the main road you can see with Lottice Lane off to the left and Duckworth Hill Lane off to the right. The Britannia pub is on the left out of shot.
There is a roundabout at this junction today.
For classic car lovers, how good is it to see the Evening Telegraph Mini van and another Mini van on the main road? Can anyone identify the dark car waiting at the junction, top right?
