Tributes have been paid to a popular DJ who hosted events in pubs and small venues across Blackburn.

DJ Alan Fielding, also known as Dalek, worked at almost every pub in the town and died at the age of 60 on December 15.

DJ Alan hosted weddings, birthdays and christenings for families at a range of venues across the borough.

He had been working locally since 1982 and was known to many landlords in the area.

He got his nickname ‘Dalek’ in the early eighties as he worked with a CB radio microphone, as you did in those days.

During the heyday of town centre nightlife in the eighties and nineties DJ Alan hosted events at some of the most popular spots in the area.

He also worked in Manchester and had continued to assist families with their local events right up until his death.

Adrian Garner, also known as Clitheroe Kate, of Bar Ibiza, said DJ Alan was well known through the local pub scene.

He said: “I’m devastated Alan DJ (Dalek) was one of the best DJs who worked in various places around Blackburn for me since 1982.

“Not only was he a great DJ he was also a wonderful friend, thousands of people in Lancashire danced the night away to his great music

“He was also a great electronics expert and could fix any problems. It is a sad loss to the Blackburn night life.

“Ask any landlord in the borough and beyond.”

A family tribute to Alan reads: “A dearly loved brother to Julie, uncle to Lia and cherished son to Christine.

"A good friend to many, Alan will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved him.”

DJ Alan's funeral will take place at Pleasington Crematorium at 10.30am today (January 9) and there will be a celebration of his life at Bar Ibiza later in the day.
