The crime rate in Blackburn with Darwen dropped by 10 per cent in November having also fallen in the previous month.

Data from police.uk shows 1,485 crimes were committed in the borough in November, with violence and sexual offences topping the list for the third month running.

There was a drop of 10 per cent compared to October, which had seen a slight decrease of just over two per cent from September.

Using the data, it is possible to map exactly where each crime took place in the borough and determine how many instances of each crime there was.

Of the 14 crimes listed in the data, only three reported increases in November, with the other 11 all dropping.

The biggest percentage increase was public order offences, going up by 50.98 per cent from 51 offences to 77.

The other crimes changed as follows:

  • Other crime – 28 (Oct) – 30 (Nov) – up 7.14 per cent
  • Drugs – 32 (Oct) – 27 (Nov) – down 15.62 per cent
  • Robbery – 11 (Oct) – 15 (Nov) – up 36.36 per cent
  • Possession of weapons – 21 (Oct) – 12 (Nov) – down 42.85 per cent

Four other East Lancashire boroughs also reported decreases in their crime rate.

Rossendale saw the biggest drop, having recorded a huge increase last month – they went down by 17.61 per cent from 653 crimes to 538.

Burnley dropped by 15.11 per cent from 1,297 crimes to 1,101.

Hyndburn went down from 932 crimes to 855, a drop of 8.26 per cent, while Ribble Valley dropped by 5.30 per cent from 283 to 268.

The only borough to report an increase was Pendle, which went from 740 crimes to 759, an increase of 2.56 per cent.
